What’s Wrong With Gold? | Three Minutes on Markets & Money [8/9/21]

(8/9/21) The S&P has made 44 record-closes this year so far...but money flows are weakening, setting up for the market's next decline. Watch market behavior for a familiar pattern of climbing, flattening, and falling to at least the 50-DMA--which have corresponded to money flow sell signals. The Jackson Hole meeting will have an impact, especially if a time line for tapering is revealed. The Gold conundrum: Concerns about inflation, slower economic growth, and the impact of COVId on the economy have seemed to not affect golf at all--still underperforming. The problem with gold is, there's no fear in the markets. Gold plays best in the risk-preference trade.
