Varoufakis expects “good progress” in talks


(5 May 2015) Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis said on Tuesday he expected Athens and its creditors to make “good progress” by next Monday on finding a way to keep the nation afloat and in the eurozone.

Varoufakis was speaking after a meeting with EU Commissioner Pierre Moscovici, as the country faced the prospect of running out of money within weeks.

Greece and the eurozone finance ministers are meeting on May 11, and Varoufakis said that the session “will confirm the great progress that has been achieved.”

The May 11 Eurgroup meeting comes just a day before Athens is scheduled to make a 750 million euro (838 million US dollar)repayment to the International Monetary Fund that it is not certain it can afford.Find out more about AP Archive:
