Lance, the US sick care system sucks, and it can never be fixed by government, because that would require fixing the food system, and the US has the sickest food system in the world. Vivek might have been able to fix it the criminals currently leading the parties, not so much.

I own a farm in rural Indiana. We only had an unreliable, ADSL line for the Internet that ran at 10Mbps with a good tail wind. Then, I hear about StarLink (an Elon Musk / SpaceX project), which is a LEO sat system that provides 200+Mbps at latency similar to that of a run between San Francisco and LA. $120/mo. It works and is a game changer for the rural community. I'll guarantee you that Elon did not spend $24B putting this system up (which serves most of the world BTW). And take a look at your telecom bill. You will probably see a surcharge for the "Universal Service Fund" which was implemented in the 1930s to, among other things, bring telecom services to the high-cost rural areas in the US. Regarding Internet service funded under this program, they have essentially trenched some the backbone in, here and there, but never the "last mile." Do you think that Comcast or Cox intends to trench a fiber cable 1.5 miles to reach a single farm?

Washington is the worse allocator of capital in human history, because its not their money. Even if they took a small chunk as grift, bit allocated the rest as the free market would, we would be far better off. But hey… did you see Survivor last night ????

How do over developed countries for decades keep seeing doctors and not be dying. We needed ACA, and for decades nobody moved anything. Heck I am not a run to ER or doctor, but had a heart issue enough to go to ER . ER set me up for appt to cardiologist for Friday. Told me to call and see PC doc. Oh heck no appt u til after specialist, like 12 days. No thank you, why pay PC when I am paying for co pay at specialist. All sorts you can’t get appointments with for months out in US. So not just in UK. Canada, Finland, name it. Then we can top it off with fast aging population needing more attention like an older used car, and reduction in US birth rates, labor shortage. Best health care if you can afford to get to tge front if the line in US.
