Within nine years, he had risen to become senior partner of his firm. Subsequently, he held positions at the director level in investment management and worked as a mutual fund manager. Mr. Macleod also worked at a bank in Guernsey as an executive director. For most of his 40 years in the finance industry, he has been demystifying macroeconomic events for his investing clients. The accumulation of this experience has convinced him that unsound monetary policies are the most destructive weapon governments use against the common man. Accordingly, his mission is to educate and inform the public in layman's terms what governments do with money and how to protect themselves from the consequences. Rising interest rates are putting stress on the system, and Credit Suisse is the first victim. Credit Suisse is experiencing a sort of run on the bank as investors pull billions out of the institution. This could be the beginning of a trend, says Alasdair Macleod, Head of Research at Gold Money. “You will see the banking community as a whole backing off from banks they perceive to be too risky to have as counter parties.” Macleod explains that rising rates along with other current economic conditions could destabilize the whole of the European banking system and “blow apart” the Euro itself.
