Dr Marc Faber was born in Zurich, Switzerland. He went to school in Geneva and Zurich and finished high school with the Matura. He studied Economics at the University of Zurich and, at the age of 24, obtained a PhD in Economics magna cum laude.
Between 1970 and 1978, Dr Faber worked for White Weld & Company Limited in New York, Zurich and Hong Kong. Since 1973, he has lived in Hong Kong. From 1978 to February 1990, he was the Managing Director of Drexel Burnham Lambert (HK) Ltd.
In June 1990, he set up his own business, publishing a widely read monthly investment newsletter “THE GLOOM BOOM & DOOM” report which highlights

In this video, Marc Faber, a renowned investor, economist, and Director of Marc Faber Ltd., talks about the factors that led to the declining economy of U.S.
He tells on how the new generation has grown up in a time of artificially low interest rates and tells how this has backfired and FED fund rates have increased from 0.57% in May 2020, to 4% in the current year with inflation rate at 9%.
He emphasizes on how in the recent years FED has shown incompetency and negligence and underestimated the severity of inflationary pressure. He further makes a bold statement that, “Inflation has always been due to the government.” He also discusses Fiscal and Monetary effects and compares the U.S Stock Market V.S EU Stock Market.
