Top 10 Fintech Companies by Market Valuation in 2025

The global fintech industry has expanded significantly, soaring from about 5,600 companies in 2008 to over 31,800 in 2024, according to German data platform Statista.

North America dominates this market, with more than 12,000 fintech companies, followed by Europe with over 9,200 companies, and Asia-Pacific (APAC) region with 6,365.

Looking at countries specifically, the US and China are leading fintech hubs, together hosting nine of the world’s ten most valuable fintech companies in 2025, according to Indian market research company Introspective Market Research (IMR).

These top companies, which span paytech, corporate finance, digital banking, and cryptocurrency, had a combined valuation of US$2.5 trillion as of May 2025, underscoring their scale and prominence.

Visa – US$694.04 billion

Visa is an American multinational payment card services corporation headquartered in San Francisco, California. It facilitates transactions between consumers, merchants, financial institutions and government entities across more than 200 countries and territories. These transactions most commonly go through Visa-branded credit cards, debit cards and prepaid cards.

Visa is the world’s most valuable fintech company, according to IMR, boasting a market capitalization of US$694.04 billion as of May 2025. In 2024, the company processed 233.8 billion transactions worth a total of US$15.7 trillion.

Tencent – US$606.77 billion

Tencent is a Chinese multinational technology conglomerate and holding company headquartered in Shenzhen. It is one of the highest grossing multimedia companies in the world based on revenue.

Tencent connects over a billion users globally through its popular communication and social platforms Weixin, China’s largest messaging app, and its international counterpart WeChat. These apps play a central role in Chinese consumers’ daily activities, from chatting and shopping, to accessing transport. They also serve as key platforms for digital payments via Weixin Pay and WeChat Pay, allowing users to pay bills, send money and make payments right through the apps.

According to IMR, Tencent is the world’s second most valuable fintech company, boasting a market capitalization of US$606.77 billion as of May 2025.

Mastercard – US$528.68 billion

Mastercard is an American multinational payment card services corporation headquartered in Purchase, New York. It offers a range of payment transaction processing and other related-payment services, such as travel-related payments and bookings, serving consumers and businesses in more than 200 countries and territories.

According to IMR, Mastercard is the world’s third most valuable fintech company, boasting a market capitalization of US$528.68 billion, as of May 2025. In 2024, the company achieved a gross dollar volume (GDV) of US$9.8 trillion, up 8.1% year-over-year (YoY).

Intuit – US$184.87 billion

Intuit is an American multinational business software company that specializes in financial software. Intuit’s products include the tax preparation application TurboTax, the small business accounting program QuickBooks, the credit monitoring and personal accounting service Credit Karma, and email marketing platform Mailchimp.

Intuit serves approximately 100 million customers. In 2024, the company achieved a total revenue of US$16.3 billion, up 13% YoY.

According to IMR, Intuit is the world’s fourth most valuable fintech company, boasting a market capitalization of US$184.87 billion as of May 2025.

Stripe – US$91.5 billion

Stripe is an Irish-American multinational financial services and software-as-a-service (SaaS) company dual-headquartered in South San Francisco, California, USA, and Dublin, Ireland. The company primarily offers payment-processing software and application programming interfaces (APIs) for e-commerce websites and mobile applications.

Stripe is used by half of the Fortune 100, including NVIDIA, PepsiCo, NewsCorp, and Comcast. In 2024, it achieved a total payment volume of US$1.4 trillion, up 38% YoY.

With a valuation of US$91.5 billion as of May 2025, Stripe is the fifth most valuable fintech company in the world.

Fiserv – US$88.22 billion

Fiserv is an American multinational company headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Fiserv provides financial technology and solutions for banking, merchant acquiring, global commerce, billing and payments, and point-of-sale (POS), serving banks, thrifts, credit unions, securities broker dealers, mortgage, insurance, leasing and finance companies, and retailers.

Fiserv claims nearly 10,000 financial institution clients, handling up to 25,000 financial transactions per second for 6 million global merchant locations.

As of May 2025, Finserv’s market capitalization stood at US$88.22 billion, making it the sixth most valuable fintech company in the world.

Ant Group – US$78.54 billion

Formerly known as Ant Financial and Alipay, Ant Group is a fintech leader and affiliate of Chinese multinational tech company Alibaba. The group owns Alipay, China’s largest digital payments platform, and its international counter part, Alipay+, which claims 1.6 billion user accounts and more than 90 million merchants in 66 markets. Besides digital payments, Ant Group also offers wealth management, credit, and insurance.

Ant Group was valued at US$78.54 billion in July 2023, making it the seventh most valuable fintech company in the world.

PayPal – US$69.6 billion

PayPal is an American multinational fintech company operating an online payments system in the majority of countries that support online money transfers. The company operates as a payment processor for online vendors, auction sites and many other commercial and company users, for which it charges an international addition bank charges fee.

PayPal claims 434 million active consumer and merchant accounts. In 2024, the company processed 26 billion payment transactions, totaling US$1.68 trillion in payment volume.

As of May 2025, PayPal’s market capitalization stood at US$69.6 billion, making it the eighth most valuable fintech company in the world.

Nubank – US$63.34 billion

Nubank is a Brazilian neobank headquartered in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The company provides a comprehensive suite of digital financial products and services designed to simplify banking and improve financial inclusion, including a no-fee digital payment account, international credit cards, personal loans, insurance products, investment services, and business banking solutions.

Nubank is the second largest digital bank globally by customer base, with over 114 million customers across Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. As of May 2025, its market capitalization stood at US$63.34 billion, making it the most valuable neobank in the world and the ninth most valuable fintech company globally.

Coinbase – US$63.59 billion

Coinbase is an American cryptocurrency exchange. The company provides products for retail and institutional crypto investors, businesses and software developers, including a trading platform, custodial services, staking services, a self-custody wallet, as well as infrastructure tools like APIs and blockchain nodes.

Coinbase operates in more than 100 countries and held over US$400 billion in assets in 2024. Around US$393 billion worth of crypto assets are traded quarterly on the platform, underscoring its prominence.

Coinbase had a market capitalization of US$62.26 billion in May 2025, making it the tenth most valuable fintech company in the world, according to IMR.
