Construction Industry Production, Orders and Turnover Statistics in 2nd quarter 2016
Falling secondary sector production in Switzerland
Neuchâtel, 25.08.2016 (FSO) – Industrial production in the secondary sector declined 1.6% in 2nd quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover fell by 2.6%. This is shown by provisional results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).
Industrial ProductionIn comparison with the previous year industrial production declined in April by 1.3%, in May by 3.1%, then rose in June (+2.7%). For the whole of 2nd quarter 2016 production declined by 1.2% in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. |

Construction
Construction production declined by 4.1% in 2nd quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Production declined by 1.1% in building, civil engineering also registered a decline (-4.7%). Lastly, specialised construction activities registered a decline of 4.9% in their production.
Industrial Turnover
Turnover also in decline Industrial turnover in April fell by 2.3% in comparison with the previous year, and in May (-4.4%) and in June (-0.3%). For the whole of 2nd quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier, turnover registered a decline of 2.3%.
Construction Turnover
Construction turnover fell by 4.1% in 2nd quarter 2016 in comparison with the same quarter a year earlier. Turnover fell by 0.6% in building, Civil engineering registered a decline of 4.5%, specialised construction activities a decline of 5.3%.
