The Supreme Court strikes down the Chevron Deference that allowed government agencies to dictate policy, bypassing Congress. This may be the biggest decision since their relegation of abortion policy back to the states in striking down Roe v Wade. Meanwhile, markets end the 2nd quarter somewhat sloppily, but still positive for the year, possibly portending a positive finish for the year. This does not, however, exclude the possibility of correction this summer, and August, September, & October in an election year are typically weak. Lance retells his weekend rent house experience as an underscore endorsing renting over homeownership for most folks. Shocking. The Fed and economists are encouraged because CPI is down to 3.3% from a high of nearly 9% in 2022. Despite the Fed’s “significant progress” in lowering inflation, most citizens are outraged and confused by economists’ relatively rosy inflation observations. Most citizens believe inflation is still rampant. The Fed and economists are correct in that inflation is now tame. At the same time, citizens dissatisfied with high prices have solid grounds on which to base their disapproval.
