Rushanara Ali was first elected to Parliament in 2010. She is only of only three female Muslim members of Parliament in the United Kingdom.

Britain’s first female MP was elected in 1919. In 1990, 6% of British MPs were women. Now 30% of British MPs are women. Only 22% of members of parliament worldwide are women.
