Swiss Producer and Import Price Index in November 2021: +5.8 percent YoY, +0.5 percent MoM

 

14.12.2021 – The Producer and Import Price Index rose in November 2021 by 0.5% compared with the previous month, reaching 105.2 points (December 2020 = 100). In particular, petroleum products as well as petroleum and natural gas saw higher prices. Compared with November 2020, the price level of the whole range of domestic and imported products rose by 5.8%. These are the results from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO).

In particular, higher prices for non-ferrous metal products and petroleum products were responsible for the growth in the producer price index compared with the previous month. Scrap, basic pharmaceutical products, timber products and gas also became more expensive. In contrast, falling prices were seen for pharmaceutical preparations.

The import price index registered higher prices compared with October 2021, particularly for petroleum, natural gas and petroleum products. Rising prices were also seen for basic chemicals, plastic products, glass and glass products, other chemical products as well as paper and paper products. In contrast, pharmaceutical products, basic iron, steel and citrus fruits became cheaper.
