Switzerland Unemployment in June 2018: Up to 2.4percent from 2.3percent, seasonally adjusted up to 2.6percent from 2.5percent

 

Unemployment Rate (not seasonally adjusted)

Registered unemployment in June 2018 – According to SECO surveys, at the end of June 2018, 106,579 unemployed were registered at the regional employment agencies (RAV), 2,813 less than in the previous month. The unemployment rate remained at 2.4% in the month under review. Compared with the same month last year, unemployment fell by 27,024 people (-20.2%).

Seasonally adjusted Unemployment Rate

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate is up to 2.6percent from 2.5percent.

Number of unemployed and Job seekers

Youth unemployment in June 2018
Youth unemployment (15-24 year-olds) decreased by 164 (-1.5%) to 10,737. Compared to the same month last year, this represents a decrease of 3,371 people (-23.9%).

Unemployed 50 and more in June 2018
The number of unemployed 50 and more decreased by 926 people (-2.9%) to 31,104. Compared to the same month last year, this represents a decrease of 5,118 (-14.1%).

Job seekers in June 2018
A total of 179’777 jobseekers were registered, 5’690 fewer than in the previous month. Compared to the same period of the previous year, this number fell by 17,119 (-8.7%).

Reported vacancies in June 2018
The number of vacancies reported to RAV increased by 1,636 to 16,854.

Billed short-time working in April 2018
In April 2018, 1,502 people were affected by short-time work, 48 more (+ 3.2%) than in the previous month. The number of affected companies decreased by 27 units (-18.0%) to 123. The lost working hours decreased by 12’005 (-13.6%) to 76’484 hours. In the same period of the previous year (April 2017), 203,866 hours of delays had been registered, which had spread to 4,020 persons in 459 companies.

Deductions in April 2018
According to preliminary figures from unemployment insurance funds, the number of persons who had exhausted their right to unemployment benefit during the month of April 2018 amounted to 2’543 persons
