A Swiss chef from Aargau came first in this year’s ranking of the world’s 50 best restaurants.
Daniel Humm, co-owner of the restaurant Eleven Madison Park, comes from Strengelbach in Switzerland, and earned his first Michelin star at 24. In 2003, he moved to the United States to become a chef at Campton Place in San Francisco. Three years later, he moved to New York to Eleven Madison Park. He and Will Guidara now co-own the restaurant.
This year the restaurant came top in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants ranking. Last year it was third.

According to Bloomberg, Humm and co-owner Will Guidara serve a seasonal tasting menu that costs $295 plus tax for 11 courses.
24 Heures said the 40 year old Humm grew up in German-speaking Switzerland before training at Gérard Rabaey’s restaurant le Pont de Brent above Montreux in French-speaking Switzerland. He has been the co-owner of the New York restaurant since 2006.
The only Swiss restaurant in this year’s list was 3-Michelin-starred Schauenstein run by Andreas Caminada, in Fürstenau in Graubunden. In 2017, it came 72nd (there are 100 restaurants in the top 50). In 2016, it was 47th.
Anyone wishing to dine at Eleven Madison Park will need to book fast. The restaurant will be closed for renovation in June.
