Patrick’s credentials are vast. He worked with Netscape founder Marc Andreessen to help develop SSL encryption. He’s consulted for Fortune 500 companies, authored the book The Methuselah Effect, and published dozens of peer-reviewed research papers on longevity biotech. He’s also interviewed numerous Nobel Prize-winning scientists and researchers. And he’s appeared in The Wall Street Journal and on CNN’s Crossfire news program. In this interview, Patrick discusses demographic reversal and the systemic problems created when societies have more old people than young people. For one, programs like Social Security start to unravel. Patrick believes the only real solution is to radically extend our healthspans, meaning the number of years people live well and actively contribute to society. He says we are on the cusp of doing just that, sharing promising research from world-renowned medical institutions such as Johns Hopkins and MD Anderson.
