Radio Rothbard is a weekly podcast featuring a cast of Mises Institute voices and special guests. The show tackles politics, current events, culture, media, and of course the predatory state, all from an uncompromising Rothbardian perspective.

Unless the Left’s opponents focus on changing voters’ ideological drift to the left, candidates who want to actually win elections will have to keep moving left also.

In 1923 Lenin released a propaganda pamphlet titled *Down with the Private Kitchen*. It explained how private dinners with one’s family are reactionary, bourgeois, and generally something requiring total destruction.

The winner doesn’t represent “the nation.” There is no consensus. We’re not coming together “as a people.” These tired slogans should now strike every intelligent person as nonsense.

A very close or contested election would remind us that elections do not demonstrate “the will of the people” and that national unity is founded on some very fragile myths.

Is it still possible to “rouse the masses of people against the elites that are looting them” in effective numbers? As late as 1992, Rothbard thought so. And he had historical examples on his side.

Far from stopping the spread of covid-19, lockdowns only push deaths into the future. Unless a vaccine is imminent or a 100% total lockdown is imposed, lockdown won’t cause big reductions in total deaths.

Take everything with a gain of salt. Everything in my post could be wrong.

Whether we’re commanded to trust the experts, abandon the rule of law, or venerate government for “keeping us safe,” the 9/11 panic and our current crisis have many things in common.

Extraordinary measures require extraordinary evidence. Have the advocates for lockdowns made their case? The data suggests they have not.
