Yanis Varoufakis in Conversation with Daniel Denvir

Yanis Varoufakis talks with Dan Denvir about the current crisis of capitalism and prospects for lasting economic and social change.
----------------------------------------------------

With capitalism in crisis, is lasting global political and economic change possible in a post-pandemic world? What lessons can economists learn from art production in this era of permanent crisis?

Join member of Hellenic Parliament, former Greek Finance Minister and founder of the Democracy in Europe Movement 25 (DiEM25) Yanis Varoufakis and The Dig's Daniel Denvir for a conversation on the view from Europe today and what the future might hold in a post-pandemic and post-capitalist world.

Yanis Varoufakis considers himself a politician by necessity, not by choice. An economist and academic by training, he is a member of the Hellenic Parliament, Secretary-General of MeRA25, co-founder of DiEM25, and the former finance minister of Greece. Yanis has taught economics at the Universities of East Anglia, Cambridge, and Sydney, as well as at the University of Texas, Austin. He is the author of several books, including Adults in the Room, And the Weak Suffer What They Must, and The Global Minotaur.

Daniel Denvir is the host of The Dig, a Jacobin magazine podcast featuring in-depth left analysis and interviews. He is the author of All-American Nativism: How the Bipartisan War on Immigrants Explains Politics as We Know It, which explains how decades, and even centuries, of American immigration politics helped make President Donald Trump a reality. His most recent project is a three-part narrative series on life and politics under Covid called "Antibody."
