| Today is Mega-cap earnings Day, and there's also a lot of economic data to be revealed. Plus, this afternoon will see the latest announcement from the Federal Reserve. Expectations are for the Fed to hold firm on rates this time. Interestingly, despite Monday's selloff, money flows have continued to come into the markets. In fact, on Tuesday (1/28) the QQQ had its biggest inflow since 2021. Monday's market action was NOT the watershed event the bears were trying to make it out to be. Markets are not overbought yet; we're still on a solid buy signal. That's not to say a pullback can't happen; remember the lesson from December...and why it's important to pay attention to money flows, either direction. I'm still looking for AI that can push new ideas and information TO me. ChatGPT 4o is nice if you have questions but it can't push "hey this is an interesting view" or "here is what you don't know" to me. Hence I watch this podcast.

Really appreciated the discussion on the impact of AI on the labour market. This is an area I am deeply interested in. And in my observations, I am seeing a lot of ignorance, complacency, and even anger towards the technological developments we are witnessing, which tells me that most people are still woefully unprepared for the unprecedented disruptions that we will face; which will accelerate this year (with the advent of AI agents), and in the coming years (as we reach AGI and, ultimately, ASI).
To understand more about the nature of these changes and the economic, political, and philosophical implications, I would highly recommend the book "A World Without Work" by David Susskind. Here is a short excerpt that nicely summarizes the disruptive impact of AI on the labour market, which is nicely illustrated by the chart that Lance showed:
"We can now begin to see how the Age of Labor is likely to end. As time
goes on, machines continue to become more capable, taking on tasks that
once fell to human beings. The harmful substituting force displaces workers
in the familiar way. For a time, the helpful complementing force continues
to raise the demand for those displaced workers elsewhere. But as task
encroachment goes on, and more and more tasks fall to machines, that
helpful force is weakened as well. Human beings find themselves
complemented in an ever-shrinking set of tasks. And there is no reason to
think the demand for those particular tasks will be large enough to keep
everyone employed. The world of work comes to an end not with a bang,
but a withering—a withering in the demand for the work of human beings,
as the substituting force gradually overruns the complementing force and
the balance between the two no longer tips in favor of human beings."

If AI is flawless, and the conclusions perfect, why would there ever be any trades? Arent trades made because the holder thinks it's time to sell, and the buying time to add?
