In his presentation to the IIEA, Professor Bofinger will examine recent and forthcoming reforms and developments in the European economy. He will consider the prospect of a European recovery and the end to the Eurocrisis. About the Speaker: Since March 2004, Peter Bofinger has been a member of the German Council of Economic Experts, which advises the German government and parliament on economic policy issues, and is sometimes referred to as the ‘Five Wise Men’ or the ‘Five Sages of the Economy’. In this position he has been a unique proponent of Keynesianism, a critical voice regarding austerity and has been one of the driving forces behind the European Redemption Fund proposal. He has been Professor of Economics at the University of Würzburg since 1992. |
